Immigration is apparently a key issue in the UK’s economy. The parties who say this are arguing that immigrants are disrupting British culture or “stealing” our jobs. 3/4 of us are in favour of reducing immigration, and there’s been a large majority in favour of this since the 1960s.
There are mountain bikers who tackle the tracks of our countryside and forests; there are road cyclists who race along our scenic coastal roads; but there are very few people who bother cycling to school.
Why not? You can do many things at 16 in the UK – get married, pay tax and apply for the armed forces. But you can’t yet vote in general elections. The first time any 16-17 year olds were allowed to vote anywhere in Britain was at the Scottish Independence referendum in September. This year, senior pupils have been attending school wearing the unifying shirts and ties due to the instructions of Mr Mackenzie in the aim of looking smart, being a role model to younger students and representing our school. Showing an example of Fortrose Academy at excursions and events can be tricky whilst not bearing their logo and appearing well polished and disciplined even harder, however from now on our seniors will represent our school with the trademark shirt and tie. Even if it is just a trip up the street to the local co-op our seniors can still represent the rest of us and carry on the good image of Fortrose. |
