In 2007 1st Avoch Sea Scouts became the world’s only Gaelic speaking scout group and use the language in ceremonial commands. We are one of only 3 Royal Naval recognised Scout groups in Scotland
Sea Scouts meet on Fridays 7:00-9:30 (summer) and 7:00-9:00 (winter).
Some members say their favourite thing about it is “the banter”, “going out on the water” and “the thrill of it all”. Others said the use of Gaelic “is good for the highland community” and “it makes us unique”. I would recommend it to everyone who likes water sports and scouting.
Sea Scouts have helped the Avoch community with taking the memorial services for Remembrance Sunday and also send shoe boxes to the shoe box appeal for Blythswood. Both of these examples have been well supported.
