Fortrose academy’s Warhammer club has entered a team of four and two reserves to compete in the national Schools league, the date of which is currently unknown.
Left: Space marines nobly defend their monastery from a monstrous swarm of tyranids. The team will go down to Glasgow and battle against other players, and the teams with the most points at the end of the day will go to the finals at games workshop H.Q in Nottingham. The team will score points for winning games, having well painted models and your opponent enjoying gaming with you the most. Calum explained that the club is going down because its members are quite competitive so would like new lands to conquer. The team is made up of S2s ben Myers, Innes Macleod, Finlay sime, Calum Cameron and has two reserves, Jake Tickle and an S1, Aiden Anderson.
At this point you may be wondering what Warhammer is. Warhammer is a sci-fi board game that takes place in the 41st millennium. You buy, assemble and paint little models and play a much cooler version of chess with them. To play you need dice (lots), a measuring stick, or tape, a rulebook, lots of money and of course an army and the book containing all the information for that army (a codex). There are seventeen factions or races in the Warhammer universe. The space marines, Astra Milliterium, imperial knights, dark angels, blood angels, space wolves, the death watch, grey knights, the tau empire, elder, chaos space marines, tyranids, dark elder, orks, skitari, necrons and the genestealer cults.
S2 ben Myers said “I am entering necrons, exactly 450 points” for those who don’t know what points are. Points are the currency of the game. Before a game both players will agree on a point’s limit and can add units to their army and upgrade them without going over the limit. For example the points limit for the tournament is 450.
“Necrons are metal warriors who once ruled the galaxy but entered eternal slumber until they were woken up by the factions fighting and are now trying to retake their empire.” He said “They are extremely good at ranged combat.” Each person was asked how well they believed they would do. He replied “I don’t mean to boast but 75% or higher”.

Another S2 Finlay Sime said “probably my tyranid army that’s roughly 450 points. They are aliens form outside the galaxy. They had been in hibernation until they arrived and now all they want to do is feed on all life in the galaxy. Their brutal in close combat are okay at shooting but no very good at taking a hit. I’m not sure how I’ll do, other’s put large models in their army lists and I didn’t.”
Right; tyranid warrior on front of codex.
Jake tickle, one of the reserves said “I have 450 points of grey knights. They are space marines who were chosen because of their psychic ability to get the emperors genes (maybe) then are trained to fight the chaos daemons. Their brilliant but very expensive points wise. I think I have a low chance, it depends on who I’m up against”

The club has more members then you might think. The first members were seven boys who are currently in S2 and an S6 called Lewis. Just after the summer holidays a couple of the new s1’s joined the club. One such S1 who is a reserve on the team called Aidan. Who said “obviously orks they are very greedy, smelly and love war and fighting is all they ever want to do. You need to quickly get them up the table before they die then they become extremely deadly.”https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/catalog/product/600x620/60030103005_CodexOrksENG.jpg
If you are considering joining Warhammer then you can come to the club on Monday nights which lasts from straight after school until 5:00pm. you can also come to games workshop inverness for a tutorial game. Then merely get started. If you want all you need in one set then get the dark vengeance set and buy the starter set and codex for your chosen army. However in order to do more than just look at the parts you will need all the following
