There are 46 public schools and 169 private schools in the Emirate of Dubai and the whole city is completely man-made.
Roughly 101,400 children go to school in Dubai and can pay from £1,000 - £94,000 a year. They do their GCSE/IGCSE exams in Year 10 and finish in Year 13.
We have researched a school in Dubai called Dubai British School. The majority of the teachers are British and there are about 100 teachers. The pupils go to school from FS 1 (3 – 4 years old) to year 13 (17 – 18 years old.) FS 1 and FS 2 start school at 0745 and finish at 1330 on Sunday to Wednesday. On Thursday they start at 0745 and finish at 1300. Year 1 to Year 6 starts at 0745 and finish at 1430 on Sunday to Wednesday. On Thursday they start at 0745 and finish at 1315. Year 7 to Year 13 starts at 0755 and finish at 1510 on Sunday to Wednesday. On Thursday they start at 0755 and finish at 1330.
In Fortrose Academy we have a range of different extra-curricular activities like football and dance. In Dubai British School, the extra-curricular activities available are tennis, football, swimming, cricket, rugby, climbing, holiday camps and much more.
Dubai British School opened for the first time in 2005. Since the school is quite modern, the facilities included in the school are;
