Many pupils in our school have a passion for dance and are involved in dance. From students dancing with the company Dance In Action to dancing at the school club (F.A.D.C) and even being chosen to dance for Ballet West, the school is full of dance enthusiasts. I have interviewed two girls, Milly and Leah, who both love to dance and are a part of the school club F.A.D.C
FADC is the school dance club, run by Rhia Mackenzie. One of the people who attend the cub, every Monday is Leah. She said she enjoys FADC because she thinks it’s a fun way to do exercise and it’s a great thing to do with your friends.
Milly said, ‘’I dance because it is really good fun and anyone can do it, even if you think your bad it’s all about having fun and you will get better over time. It’s also great because you don’t need equipment and it is a great way to express yourself in a way you wouldn’t usually be able to.’’
Similarly Leah said she started dancing because everyone was saying it was a really fun thing to do and it’s a great way to get to know people. Their favourite dances were Gasoline and salute and they both thought that being taught by Rhia was really good and the dances she choreographs are usually very modern.
‘’My whole family are very supportive of me dancing.’’ Said Milly and Leah said, ‘’ Mainly Rhia supports me but I also support myself dancing.’’ Milly dances in many different places as well as F.A.D.C including Dance In Action in Beauly and a group in Inverness, but Leah only dances at F.A.D.C.
Then I asked why they chose dancing at not something else and they both replied saying, ‘’ It is a sport that can be enjoyed by anyone, whether you can or can’t dance when you start. It is a great way to express your feelings and free yourself from stress.’’
F.A.D.C is clearly something enjoyed by many of the pupils and is a very effective extra curricular activity.
